Then, keep reading. This article explains how I eliminated my own clogged pores (often called “blackheads”) and found a way to have skin so smooth you could barely tell that I had pores at all.
If you have read a few of my other posts on this site, you already know that I have seen my fair share of skin problems:
- Oily Face
- Extremely Oily Ears
- Oily Scalp (and Greasy Hair)
- Very Large Pores
- Acne
Today, I am here to tell you about another problem that plagued me for a long time, and something that many people around the world struggle with on a daily basis: clogged pores and “blackheads”.
Back when I was a teenager, I used to spend HOURS in front of the mirror trying to “extract” blackheads any way that I could. I would squeeze and pinch on my face for what seemed like an eternity. Although removing blackheads though squeezing was somewhat successful, all that pressing and pinching left my face red, irritated, inflamed and sometimes even bruised.
I probably spent hundreds of dollars over my teen years on Oxy-10 cream, Strydex pads and whatever else looked promising. None of this helped. It only made my skin more red, inflamed and sensitive.
Long story short, after all the pinching, squeezing and medicated creams, my face looked even worse as a result.
I thought that all of my problems with clogged pores would be over once I hit my 20s. I mean, that’s the way it’s supposed to work right? Well, I was wrong.
In my 20s, I still had oily skin, large pores, acne (although this did subside a little after my teens), and blackheads.
WHEN WAS ALL THIS CRAP GOING TO END????
By the time I had hit my late 20s, I was willing to try ANYTHING to get rid these problems. So, I started doing some intense research on what really caused oily skin, enlarged pores, blackheads, and acne. For a while, it felt like I was in dermatology school. I knew the different parts of the skin, the different layers, the different glands, how they worked, why they are there, and so on.
That is, of course, what led me to find the Oily Skin Remedy that I wrote about elsewhere on this site. However, eliminating oily skin was only part of the equation. I wanted clear pores! I wanted the clogged pores and blackheads to go away forever.
There is something else I started doing in my research, though: I started asking people with beautiful skin what THEY do for their skin. The results were surprising.
Some people did nothing, and just had naturally perfect skin – these people were just lucky.
However, many people offered a plethora of fantastic (and sometimes very “hyped up”) advice. They recommended products, procedures, facials, special diets, moisturizing creams and lotions, exfoliating scrubs, overnight masks, dry bushing, and a host of other things that they considered their “secret” to beautiful skin.
I had to sort through a lot of information, try a lot of stuff, purchase many products and supplements, and get through a lot of wishful thinking to get to the things that really worked.
After I was done, I had a journal over a half-inch thick with notes, my experiences with different techniques, etc.
What I kept coming back to was these two things:
- Having beautiful skin (as well as clear pores) starts on the inside. Most of the time, oily skin, large pores, blackheads and acne are only the SYMPTOM of some other problem in the body. When these things are present, there is some imbalance in the body that needs to be corrected first. This correction usually consists of modifying the diet, detoxifying the body, and supplementing with certain vitamins.
- You can do other things to the surface of the skin (the external and visible portion) to help enhance the way the skin looks, but it should not be the ONLY thing you do. There are some amazing techniques, products, and processes that can be done to IMMEDIATELY enhance they way your skin looks. But, with that being said, these things should only be done if you have already taken steps to correct whatever imbalance was causing the problem.
In other words, tackle the cause FIRST. Then, use the products we recommend here on this site to enhance the way you look.
In Part 2 of this series, we will look at what needs to be done to start getting clear pores, starting on the INSIDE first.
In Part 3 and Part 4, we will be again be looking at things you can do to supplement from the inside. However, in Part 5 and Part 6 of the series, we will be recommending different external tools and techniques that can be used to speed things along, and get your skin looking beautiful FASTER.
